I can’t make any money down in the Redneck Riviera
Serving rum drinks in plastic and non-local seafood fare
Their tippin’ is low, it’s nearly from an earlier era
I tell myself - either they don’t know or they don’t care

I went down to the beach to gather some seashells
I like the little ones with the twirly-dad heads
I grabbed for one, but then I knew that I was mistaken
It turned out to be the butt end of a Marlboro Red

It’s not that I’m some laissez faire tree-hugging hippie
It’s just that when I see some litter something hits me
And I ain’t no organic, free-trade, gluten-free, veganese, vegetarianism-ist critter
It’s just that Earth was the only place ever known to me

The trash doesn’t come from dumpsters, bags or even cans
But it walks down the beach with an uneven farmer’s tan and a cold ’Stone right in its hand

And with a prideful rebel yell to remind me I’m in hell
They’re believing the south will rise
Right down here in the Redneck Riviera

So I take pride in picking up in the Redneck Riviera
While laying in the surf and enjoying the breeze in my hair
